Three days back, I listened to a message by one of the celebrated inspirations on this blog, Pastor Mensa Otabil‘s Understanding Opportunities and I was inspired to ponder more on this word. In the course of this series, I’ll share what I learnt.
Take a ride with me and pay attention as these great people tell us what opportunity is and entails. Read again if you have to, ponder, pause, analyze and resolute.
Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday’s success or put its failures behind and start over again. That’s the way life is, with a new game every day, and that’s the way baseball is.
Your big opportunity may be right where you are now.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Thomas A. Edison
If a window of opportunity appears, don’t pull down the shade.
Life is the most exciting opportunity we have. But we have one shot. You graduate from colleSge once, and that’s it. You’re going out of that nest. And you have to find that courage that’s deep, deep, deep in there. Every step of the way.
The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
Remember, the storm is a good opportunity for the pine and the cypress to show their strength and their stability.
Ho Chi Minh
Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity.
Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Opportunity does not knock, it presents itself when you beat down the door.
Start where you are. Distant fields always look greener, but opportunity lies right where you are. Take advantage of every opportunity of service.
Opportunity often comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat.
People do make mistakes and I think they should be punished. But they should be forgiven and given the opportunity for a second chance. We are human beings.
The two worst strategic mistakes to make are acting prematurely and letting an opportunity slip; to avoid this, the warrior treats each situation as if it were unique and never resorts to formulae, recipes or other people’s opinions.
Today knowledge has power. It controls access to opportunity and advancement.
Sometimes when you fail, it allows you the opportunity to grow more motivation and get more intense about your training.
What is opportunity to you? How would you define opportunity? How do you identify opportunity? Which of this quotes got you bobbing your head? I look forward to hearing from you.
